What can I do to help? | DAC Allen County Drug & Alcohol Consortium
  • Be informed--Know about harmful substances and their risks
    • Continually learn about helping resources
  • Be alert--Know signs and symptoms of substance abuse
    • Watch for them in family, friends, coworkers, neighbors
  • Be a role model--Do not consume illegal substances
    • If you are over 21 years old, drink responsibly
    • Your actions speak louder than your words
  • Be protective--Talk to your children and youth you touch about
    • Your hope for their future and their safety
    • Lock up your alcohol and medications
    • Keep your home and spaces drug free
  • Be caring--Kindly and warmly let loved ones know of your concerns, your hope for their happiness, and your  support
    • Do not provide money or excuses for those who are abusing substances
  • Be a part of the solution--Volunteer with DAC, your school, your church, your community with managing materials, helping at information fairs, and in positively guiding youth.  Make a difference.
  • Be a voice-- Speak up individually and in groups
    • Vote on issues that protect us
    • Participate in neighborhood initiatives
    • Silence is agreement with the problems
